The mission of the Blairsville Police Department is to protect and serve all the people of Blairsville, while at the same time providing a safe environment for our little citizens, "our children."

In order to help facilitate the above objective, the department has implemented a myriad of programs.  For example, the department actively embraces the community policing program objective.  This program has been tailored to the needs of the Blairsville Police Department enhancing both officer visibility and approachability. 

The Blairsville Police prides itself on the aggressive pursuit of crime and traffic enforcement.  The department routinely deploys an innovative approach dubbed "ECHO" or Enforcement and Curtailment of Highway Offenses.  When deployed this multi-vehicle program saturates a pre-determined area addressing all motor vehicle and traffic related issues.  Equally important to the department is the issue of Drunken Driving.  This nemesis is routinely handled via mobile patrols and the standardized stationary checkpoint.

Spring is finally here.  Please be careful on the roadways.   As the weather has gotten better, the children are out playing more often. 

Make sure your batteries in your smoke detectors are functioning.

Also,  PLEASE don't drink and drive.  Remember, only one drink begins your impairment.  DUI laws are tougher than ever before.  The life you save might be your own.  Designate a driver before you go out.
